Need an Idea For a Green Quilt? Here's A Couple!

By Jane Green

When considering the quilts that I had mad over my many years, whether it was patchwork, themed or patterned, I attempted to think how many green ones I had made... And to my astonishment, I couldn't remember making even one green quilt.

After coming to this awareness, I could find no real reason for not having one and became hell fixed on starting one. I sat down with my pencil and pad and recorded 2 concepts for my green quilt.

Link Theme

I have a nephew who is really into his Nintendo. One of the games I've seen him play is a game called Zelda : Twilight Princess. The primary personality of this game is a little fellow called Link.

He dresses typically in green, with a little bit of brown. The graphics on this game were reasonably simple, with smooth edges and not a huge amount of detail. Making a quilt with Link in one of the forest theme levels would be quite simple and would principally feature a green design.

On top of this, my nephew would be excited to bits with a blanket like this. thigsa and other things oh yeah... things and stuff and more stuff

A Vine Blanket thigns accepting

Taking a nature themed approach, I came up with the idea of using vines to form the pattern of a quilt. You could have them criss-cross or merely grow in random directions across the quilt.

Once you have decided the way in which the vines will go, add some leaves to all of the vines to add some texture to your green quilt. It really makes for a great free form design.

Now I am not going to tell you which idea I ended up going with, but I'm sure that I'm going to at last use all of them, as I love them both! Thing and stuff oh yep baby
