Show Them The Force Of Hercules With This Extraordinary Card Trick

By Miles J. Sunkest

With this simple magic trick you can powerfully impress any crowd with your incredible magic abilities. You can claim the strength of the gods as you boldly boast that you can easily and effortlessly tear apart a pack of cards with your bare hands. And as the crowd grows, so will your reputation.

Right now you've got the whole crowd's attention. You describe that you have not too long ago had a visualization, and the ghost of Hercules has loaned you his extraordinary strength for a time. And that you have determined to utilize his borrowed power to charm the masses rather than for individual gain. As you boast more and more, they grow to be more and more suspicious. Certainly you are making this up. You produce a pack of regular cards. Typically, you shuffle them a couple of times, showing they are a normal deck of cards. You call on the durability of the gods one last time, and then effortlessly tear the cards in half, tossing them in the air. The crowd is surprised, and you are a hero. The men will wish they were you, and the females will wish they were with you.

Of course, this is an optical illusion, and here's how to do it. The deck will need to be set up before hand, so that it looks normal to the inexperienced eye, but is much less strong so you can very easily tear it in half. You can do this a couple ways. The first approach is to take a straight razor, and slice every other card halfway across. Make sure the cards are all lined up, so that the slashes are all in the same spot. They will shuffle the exact same, but with every other card pre cut, you can easily tear them.

Another way to organize the deck is to heat up the cards in an oven. They will become more fragile this way, and will be much easier to tear, but won't look any different. Furthermore, you can take every other card, and fold it back and forth a number of times. You'll have to be careful that each card has been folded in the exact same spot, otherwise they will be hard to tear.

This trick works best when you are in the center of a few other card tricks, although you don't truly need to do it that way. It might just appear unusual if you were to all of a sudden talk about tearing a deck of cards in half, and then not be able to do any tricks later on. You're pals might think it a bit strange if you simply produced a deck of cards, tore them in half, and then started talking about sports activities or something.

And as with any other technique the way you build this up will have a significant impact on how impressed people will be. The more engaging a story you can tell, the greater reaction you'll get from the group. Mental energy, alien strength, ghosts of magicians past are all great ways to add to the enjoyment, and keep them from guessing the trick. For best results, fling the cards in the air right after you've ripped them up. This will be much more remarkable, and will be a great distraction for whatever the next trick is that you have up your sleeve. Have fun.
