A Few Of The Greatest Movies From The Talented Thespian, Jack Nicholson

By Todd Waters

It's a shame how much free time Jack Nicholson has on his hands these days. The guy is without a doubt one of the most accomplished actors of all time, and instead of continuing to churn out classics, he waits for the perfect movie before pouncing on it. In the meantime, you can catch him in the front row at the Staples Center.

The following movies are my favorite films starring the great Jack Nicholson.

If you have yet to see The Departed, you are missing out. Few films that have come out in recent years have touched the brilliance that The Departed delivered. It came as little surprise to most when this movie won the Oscar for Best Picture of The Year.

One Flew Over The Cuckoo's nest is simply put, one of the greatest pieces of American cinema ever created. Jack plays a mental patient that leads a coup against an evil nurse at an insane asylum and the scenes are memorable, to say the least.

One of the best Jack Nicholson roles of all time is without a doubt his portrayal of Colonel Nathan R. Jessep in A Few Good Men. This movie is incredible, which comes as no surprise since the great Aaron Sorkin wrote the screenplay.

While Heath Ledger knocked it out of the park with his portrayal of The Joker, there is no doubt that Nicholson set the bar incredibly high. At the time, no one could have possibly played The Joker better than Jack.

Jack Nicholson's second Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role came for his portrayal of Melvin Udall in As Good As It Gets. This is as good as acting gets.

These are just some of the notable films that Nicholson has starred in over the years, and surely there are others.
