Where To Find Moving Boxes

By Shane McConnell

During a relocation, there are many decisions to be made and it is easy for something to slip the mind. One aspect of moving that is extremely important and also often overlooked is deciding how to store the household items during transport. Any move will be very inefficient and frustrating without the use of moving boxes to hold the home's contents.

The consideration does not end with realizing that the containers are needed. A source for them needs to be found, preferably one that does not charge outrageous prices. The solution to this is a bit of creativity and a willingness to make some inquiries. When people are moving, they want to save as much money as they can because this will leave cash to spend for improvements and repairs of the new house. Paying a lot for cartons that will be used only once is foolish.

One of the easiest places to find boxes for a move is online. Certain sites are dedicated to containers used for moving household items. An online auction site is another great place to find these at discounted prices. Online classifieds may also advertise the perfect items at the perfect price. In addition, check out bartering sites if the desire is to purge some goods in exchange for boxes.

Most of us are familiar with storage facilities and we may have even used one in the past. Not only do these entities rent space, they sell containers for moving. Used boxes are often sold at deeply discounted prices, especially when purchased in bulk. In addition to saving money, the consumer will be supporting product recycling, something each of us can appreciate in this era of increased energy consumption and waste.

Those who are moving on a shoestring budget can find cartons without having to pay for them. Every week, supermarkets receive product deliveries, with produce, fruit, snacks, and other food packaged in cartons. Discount and electronics stores also get shipments of bulk deliveries that are contained in cartons. Most stores throw these containers away, so ask if some can be set aside.

When a person is familiar with where to find them, it is simple to get a supply of cheap or free moving boxes. The Internet, neighborhood storage facility, and grocery, discount, and electronics stores are some of the best places. On most days, these locations will have several unneeded cartons and will be more than happy to sell them or give them free to anyone who needs them for a household move.
