Professional Digital Camcorder Review

By Caleb Moll

You should be able to share your high quality images online, via e-mail, by disk or instantly via wireless/Bluetooth options when you purchase a professional digital camcorder. The best types of professional digital camcorders will have easy-to-use controls that capture images and sound well, and also have a decent zoom. Another feature to look for in these camcorders is the ability to take still photos as well as film so you do not have to purchase two cameras.

The most popular brands are Sony, Canon, Panasonic and Samsung. These top brands offer many different options for consumers with regard to recording formats and various features. The most common recording format is known as Mini-DV. Part of the reason they are so popular is that the smaller tapes they use are generally a lot cheaper than tapes used for other formats. The price of the camcorder you purchase will depend on its level of quality, and how many features it has. If you want a high quality professional camcorders, you should expect to have to pay $1000 for it.

For more convenience, consider DVD camcorders. DVD camcorders utilize either DVD-R or DVD-RW discs, and will allow you to record your video straight to a DVD disc, that way you can play it on a DVD player as soon as you finish recording. DVD-RW is a lot more expensive than Mini-DV.

In order to narrow down what kind of camcorder you need, you need to figure out what you want to do with your camcorder. Zoom will be very important if you're intending to film anything from a distance. You should choose optical zoom, if the choice between digital and optical zoom comes up. Optical zoom is superior because digital zoom can decrease the resolution of the image when you zoom in to get the shot.

If budget is a concern, you should also think about any additional costs that you will incur, such as the tapes or disks required for recording on your professional digital camcorder. Obviously, this will add to what you spend initially and over the long term for the camcorder. For best results, just make sure that the camcorder you choose has all the features you want, but isn't loaded down with a bunch of features that you won't ever need.
