Types of mens socks

By Vince Samios

Just as there are for all of us, when it comes to mens socks, men have many choices they can make. It is important though to find the right kind of socks for both comfort and for the style of clothing that is going to be worn.

It is important to remember what activity will be happening when the different types of socks are worn. Different activities may require different types of socks.

The type of activities you will be involved in can really impact the type of sock that you will buy. The physical activity that impacts a sock purchase does not take into account the average daily activity of most people. Buying socks for a physical activity has much more to do with doing things like running. The mens socks you'd buy for running are much different than the type of sock you'd buy to wear to your office.

Athletic socks come in all sorts of types. Usually you need to decide if you want a short sock, a no-show sock, crew sock or a sock that is a little taller. You should also consider what sort of material the socks are made of. While most people think that cotton athletic socks are the way to go, this is not always the best choice. More often, and particularly if you are going to do an endurance sport you will need to consider a different material. You want a material that won't rub and cause chaffing while you are participating in the activity and you want something that will breathe and keep your feet cool and comfortable.

When it comes to a business situation the material of the sock is not nearly as important as the look of the sock. Most of the time a man will be safe if they choose a dark colored sock to go with dark colored pants or suits.
