Used Golf Clubs - Play till You Become Good at it

By Samantha Richards

If you have recently made up your mind to play golf then you should not spend lots of cash on buying new golf clubs because later on you might get bore of that game. Since you have not played the game before or have not practiced much, you would need time to decide the kind of golf club that can suit you during your golf learning stage. The best option is to make a start with used golf clubs.

You can start playing golf with the rental golf clubs at a driving range and ask your fellow golfer to let you borrow their golf clubs for a while, this way you will be able to decide which golf club is appropriate for you. When you have played for some time and you feel that it's about time to get your own golf club instead of the rental one then you can buy a second hand golf club.

While out and about to buy golf clubs you should only rely on those people that are aware of the golf equipments. You can look for help from a local golf professional for advice or you can talk to the expert at the golf shop to find about golf clubs. Your friend who knows a lot about golf equipments can also assist you to choose the best golf equipment. Internet is a good resource to look for used golf clubs.

As a new golfer you should learn to play golf with half set of golf clubs with all the matching iron of the same model, half set could be comprised of combination of clubs. You should not include driver in the half set because driver is the hardest club to control and the new golfer might not be able to handle it yet. The half set combination would help a new player on the golf course in any situation and it will be easy to select the club. A new golfer can improve swing techniques with the assistance of well combined half set of golf club and then gradually progress towards full set golf club.

When buying a club, search for club heads that are made of stainless steel and do not lure into cheaply priced alloy heads. Since you are a new player you should choose the heel and toe club head design, cavity backed and over sized golf clubs. Instead of steel shafts you should buy graphite shafts as it is perfect for novice golf players. Though graphite shafts are little expensive but they weigh less and help a new golfer to swing the club faster with enlarged club head.

Upon purchasing a used golf club you notice that the grips of the golf club are in worn out condition or do not fit you accurately then get them replaced. Getting grips replaced is not an expensive thing and can be easily changed by a club repairman. Just make sure that the old grips are replaced with a similar size and design.

In the end I would say when you start playing golf it's your swing technique that disappoint you more than the golf club itself. However it's important that you invest some time in finding out the right kind of golf club for yourself. An appropriate kind will not only improve your game but will work wonders for your confidence too.
