The Best Fishes

By Greg Pierce

"US is one huge landmass that has almost everything. From the sunny beaches of Florida to the chilly winds of Illinois and the bliss of the Central Park in New York, the United States is truly a paradise for tourists and residents alike. For those who have learned to love the sport of fishing, the country boasts of few of the world's best catches.

Below is a rundown of some of the country's best known catches that are sure to lure you to get out of your comfort zone into the adventure that comes along the baits and the line.

1. White Sturgeon- In the whole of the US, this is the largest freshwater fish. This is a fisherman's trophy. It can grow to as big as 800 kilograms. For those fish lovers, if your pursuit is solely the white sturgeon, then get some really powerful company; you might just be dragging a ginormous beast-like catch. This fish lurks underneath the lakes and rivers of the North American land mass. Your fishing status will surely be upgraded to higher levels if you catch a white sturgeon.

2. Salmon- Apart from its creamy taste that commands increasing market value and demand, the salmon is another fish that has been synonymous with the fishing sport. Most, if not all, of those who have tried the sport have had a salmon wriggling to let loose of their hook and line. Also, this fish has been attached to a folklore that they go back to the exact spot where they were born. According to Wikipedia, "salmon are anadromous: they are born in fresh water, migrate to the ocean and then return to fresh water to reproduce." They are known to scour the oceans and yet always, with amazing precision and accuracy go back to the same spot to spawn. Radio tracking devices have proven this to be true.

3. Bass - One of the most prized game fish, the bass is one hefty prize that fishermen from all over the world desire to catch. The name bass actually came from the word "bars" which mean perch. The word bass encompasses quite a number of popular game fishes and may be fresh water or seawater fish. One common characteristic is that they are all perch-like, hence, the word bass.

These are some of the most noted fishes that demand attention in the fishing game industry. It is indeed a treat that raises your endorphins levels to the ceiling if you find them on your hook on any vacation."
