Manchester United to face Liverpool in F.A Cup third round.

By Saul Malpass

The Manchester United shirt and Liverpool shirt have clashed multiple times throughout the years in the biggest occasions, and involved many memorable moments, Cantona's volley at Wembley to name one of the few.

Liverpool although they are not the same side of a few years ago challenging in the champions league and threatening to challenge the league, they will be no pushovers as they look for silverware to ease the pressure that Roy Hodgson may come under in the coming months and what would be more satisfying than to knock out the Manchester united shirt from the competition.

Liverpool knocked the Manchester United shirt out of the competition 4 years ago due to a singular Peter Crouch goal, but it is Manchester United who have had the majority of victories with seven of the last eight going to the men from Manchester.
Earlier in the season a stunning Berbatov hat trick was enough to secure victory for Alex Ferguson beating Liverpool 3-2. Liverpool do not taking losing to United lightly and the club with Torres returning to a good run of form, hope to start gelling with new signings Hodgson has bought in. The tie was met with mixed feeling for Hodgson who is under a bit of pressure at the big club.

Off the back of a somewhat unlucky 2-1 defeat at White Hart Lane Liverpool manager Hodgson, met the draw with optimism "It will be an excellent game. It's a bit unfortunate that two Premier League teams of the quality of United and Liverpool get drawn together in the third round. I always feel that's a bit sad.

The tie was met with a mixed message from the Liverpool manager who though sees it as an excellent tie; he was probably hoping to meet the Manchester United shirt much later in the competition "It will be an excellent game. It's a bit unfortunate that two Premier League teams of the quality of United and Liverpool get drawn together in the third round. I always feel that's a bit sad.
"It'll be a cracking game of football. No doubt we'll find ourselves on TV again. We seem to be on TV every week." said the Liverpool boss.

Other highlights of the round see Leeds who knocked the Manchester United shirt out of the cup last year hoping to do the same to the red of Arsenal. Roy Keane faces a difficult challenge with Ipswich playing Chelsea and Man City drawing Leicester City.
