One popular product that seems to have no end in it's popularity is hobbytron airsoft guns. These seem to be the latest rage. If you haven't gotten some of these toys yet, you should. If you do have some of these toys, then I've got a couple of great ideas for some games that you can play with your friends. As long as you use safety precautions, especially eye and face protection, you'll be good to go, and you'll likely have the time of your life.
This game is particularly exciting, and it's called "escaped convict." You get together with your friends, and depending on the size of your group, you choose two or three people to pretend to be recently escaped convicts. They are only armed with handguns, which contain at most ten BBs each. This is to simulate what would happen in real prison break situation. The rest of you have automatic rifles and shotguns. Needless to say, wearing protection is a must in this game.
You first need to find a large, open area, that is partially protected by trees, shrubs, or hills. If possible, try playing this on an official airsoft field, so you won't run the risk of involving other people that don't know what's going on. You may need to have a couple people stand guard to make sure kids or pets don't wander into your playing field. You pick a spot off in the distance as the safe zone. If the escapees get there before you catch them, they win. If you catch them before they get there, then you win. This is particularly fun if the safe zone is a good deal of distance away, and there are plenty of different ways to get there.
Another game to play is a variation of this, called cops and robbers. You'll need full permission from the homeowner for this game, whether it be your parents, or whoever. You send one guy into the house, who is the designated bad guy. He has about a three minute head start. In the house are hidden items he or she must retrieve, and then escape without being caught. Any exit is fine. If they escape, then they win, if they don't, you win.
One more game to play is a variation of the old target practice. You simply set up some targets, and then come up with different ways to get points. This can be particularly fun if you have some automatic weapons, like the AK 47 replica that shoots several BBs per second. Simply set up a bunch of cans and see who can shoot them all down in the smallest amount of time. Or take your favorite sniper rifle, and see who can hit a target far away in the least amount of shots. There are plenty of variations on this particular game.
These are but a few of the many games you can play with these wonderful toys. I'm sure you can think of many more, and once you play them, the sky's the limit. You are only constrained by your imagination. So get out there, have some fun, and be safe. If you think of any more good games, come back and tell us about them so we can have some fun as well.
